The so-called "welfare state" is an invention of politicians to win votes and gain the loyalty of the masses. Over time, this system creates its own ruin. It creates negative incentives that displace the productive part of the economy and instead of wealth creates poverty and destitution. Britain has been the forerunner of this cycle. Other countries will follow.
